Double Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition

Elliott Design took home a Double Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. It is the highest award they give and apparently we are the first design studio not just in Vancouver, Washington, but in the entire Northwest to take it home! In all there were 3,897 submissions from 27 countries, the biggest competition they’ve had in their 30 year history.

The design was a collaboration between Don Elliott and Gary Gougér, the wine maker. Gary chose the bottle and the cork while Don designed around his specifications. However what really made it fun was the story behind the wine. “Mine Mine Mine,” a fortified dessert wine got it’s name as a tribute to Gary’s wife. On their first date he thought he would ‘share’ his take on the port style of wine with her – he had one sip…she had the rest! After they married he wandered into his cellar to find all the port cases labeled “Mine!”

Suffice it to say, we love working with Gary and hope to keep pumping out award winning labels to match his great stories and spirits! You can see the label, taste some wine, and listen to live music all at Gougér Cellars on Friday nights at 1812 Washington St, in downtown Vancouver. Tell him we sent ya!

Wow, that photo is a piece of art! I love how the little circle do-dads at the bottom of the label match the color of the wine at the bottom of the bottle. Elegant, balanced and a cute story to boot.

Man, that is so so cool. I have seen the evolution of the wine labels in the last 40 yrs from basic information and subtle logo graphics…to now. Where talented people like yourself can share a true “art statement” with the wine world (and beyond). Before all we had was Ch.Mouton Rothshild using well known artists in a tribute. Good work!
